Sleep Disorders in Flower Mound, TX
Determining if a person has a sleep disorder can be a challenge. Not all symptoms happen while you are asleep; Symptoms to look for include:
- Excessive daytime sleepiness
- Heartburn and GERD
- Loud Snoring
- Morning headaches
- Teeth grinding & dental changes
Before an initial exam, you will fill out comprehensive forms which include a health questionnaire and sleepiness scale to help Dr. Krish better understand and diagnose your underlying issues. A questionnaire related to your sleep patterns is assessed as well, as it explores daytime drowsiness and overall feeling of restfulness. In addition, input from your bed partner can be helpful in identifying other symptoms, such as choking, gasping, or snoring.
During each new patient appointment, our assistants take photos and measurements that relate to the jaw, neck and head. Dr. Krish then performs a physical examination that includes looking for enlarged tissues at the back of your mouth and throat which can block the airway. If needed, other testing, such as Motor Reflex Testing and a full head CBCT scan may be ordered to help create a customized plan.
Dr. Krish may also recommend a sleep study, which is a diagnostic tool that monitors breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure levels during sleep. Sleep studies can be important to diagnosis because they provide even more information on what your body is doing while you’re asleep.
